Been to art school and appreciate how Ferguson captures in words the somewhat implicit reverence for a vow of poverty to prove one's authenticity. As a practitioner of paint, however, I can attest to the consciousness expansion art-making supports, if only an exalted state reached during the process, then lost to the artist, though hopefully not to future viewers, when the materialization completed.
